Preparing Mini Idlis:
- To start with the idli fry recipe, you can take some of your leftover idlis and place
them in a bowl.
- If you don’t have pre-made idlis, get fresh iD Idly-Dosa batter to make delicious idlis. By using already prepared fresh batter, you will be saving time
and energy required for fermenting urad dal and preparing it.
- Now, grease your mini idli molds with ghee or oil and pour the batter in the
segments on the rack.
- Steam these in the cooker for 8-10 minutes and remove demold the idlis from the
mold.
Preparing Mini Masala Idli Fry:
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and urad dal.
- When they start tempering, and the urad dal turns dark yellow, add in the curry
leaves, and chopped green chilli.
- Now add in the chopped onions sauté them.
- Once the onions soften, add in the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red
chilli powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, and salt as per taste.
- Allow this mixture to cook until the tomatoes turn mushy.
- Now, add in the mini idlis and toss them with the flavors in the pan.
- Add chopped coriander for garnish and serve hot.
